Thousands of people came to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta for the 2013 Atlanta Chefs Expo. Local chefs from restaurants, catering companies and small businesses prepared a small sampling of different foods for people to taste. Chefs from Honeysuckle Gelato, the Great Cupcake Company, Creative Vegan Ensembles, BLT Steak, Chef Rob’s Caribbean Cafe, Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails and thrive were just a few of the many participants cooking up delicious bites. Three judges, Ginny McCormack, Broderick Smylie and Holly Firfer, tasted each offering and handed out awards to the best chef in each of five categories. The general public was also allowed to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. Two celebrity chefs were also given time to demonstrate their skills; Chef Joe Arvin and Chef Scott Serpas each prepared a meal on stage as well as a few mixologist demonstrations. It was quite an event to be a part of.
