The sun wasn’t up yet and I was headed to Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta for the 2013 Publix Georgia Marathon/Half Marathon. Over 16,000 runners participated in either the marathon, half marathon or 5k races that lasted into the afternoon on St. Patrick’s Day. The top runners included Andrew Heath who finished the half marathon in 1:09:55, Justyna Mudy who finished the half marathon in 1:18:49, Malcolm Campbell who ran 26 miles in 2:26:11 and Jill Horst who won the full marathon in 2:58:22. The race was followed up with a party in the park.
