DragonCon has invaded Atlanta for Labor Day weekend. One of the big draws for the convention, including the 57,000 attendees that were expected over the past five days, is the annual parade. For the past 12 years Peachtree Street has been shut down as hundreds of costumed fans wind their way through downtown. This year, Ghostbusters seemed to be one of the major themes. I am assuming this was because Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the movie series, was in attendance. As always Star Trek and Star Wars were well represented. There was also a major presence by fans of steampunk, Bio Shock, super heroes and villains and zombies. Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian through the Star Wars series and Jason David Frank who played the Green Power Ranger also made their way through the parade route. This year there is over 3,500 hours of content including seminars with William Shatner, the cast of the Walking Dead, some of the contestants from the SyFy Channel’s FaceOff reality television show, anime voice actors, and George Takei to name just a few.
