Early in the morning at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta hundreds of cyclists seeking a cure for breast cancer gathered at the start line for the 2013 Tour de Pink. The event allows participants to ride from one to 100 miles, from short family rides and a survivor loop to professionally designed routes for the expert cyclist. Depending on the route chosen, riders wound their way through the scenic streets and neighborhoods of North Fulton, moving northward toward Lake Lanier. There was also a 5K course for runners and walkers, live music at the finish line, food and drink and things to entertain the younger members of the family. Breast cancer survivors started the first round of the race, followed by waves of riders depending on the length of their ride. Some tears were shed by participants as they remembered their struggle and the struggles of their friends and loved ones. To view or purchase these and other photos from this event click here.
