About an hour and a half south of Atlanta and 30 minutes south of Macon lies Perry, Georgia. Each fall, representatives from counties across the state pack up their best animals and produce and put them on display to be judged during the annual national fair. The fair encompasses a little bit of everything…. food, music, art, produce, animals, games and rides are only part of the magic that happens on the fairgrounds for 11 days in October. The Georgia National Fair has promoted the state’s heritage, people, and agriculture since the first fair in 1990. Competitions include creative writing, art, livestock, horses and locally grown agriculture. Personally, the midway, with all of its lights, sounds and excitement is reason enough to take the trip.
