The Fox Theatre in Atlanta was filled with local sports celebrities Wednesday night. The 9th annual Atlanta Sports Awards brought out such greats as Phil Niekro, Tommy Nobus, Vince Dooley, D.J. Shockley, Tom Gugliotta, Matt Bryant, Brad Nessler and many more. The ceremony handed out seven total awards including Coach of the Year which went to Norcross High School head coach Keith Maloof, Collegiate Athlete of the Year which went to University of Georgia’s Aaron Murray, High School Athlete of the Year, which went to Diamond DeShields, Professional Athlete of the Year went to Craig Kimbrel, and Team of the Year went to the Atlanta Dream.The two major awards were the Community Spirit Award which went to the Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Bryant and the Lifetime Achievement Award which went to former Falcons’ Tommy Nobus.
