I wanted to start out my second installment on summer camps around the Atlanta area, focusing on something a little different. In my search to find camps that stood out I happened upon a few that catered to children with special needs. There aren’t that many around the city but those that I did find are absolutely fabulous. So I start this installment with Camp Happy Hearts in Alpharetta. Children, ages 6-12 with mild disabilities, are given the opportunity to experience a day camp with all of the activities of regular camp including swimming, field trips, arts and crafts, play time and much more. The counselors are attentive and knowledgeable on how to interact with the campers and keep their attention. Which even with children without disabilities can be challenging, We spent the morning painting pottery and then playing with bubbles on the playground. It was a great start to the day!
