I started my Saturday morning with a ride up to Flowery Branch to check out the city’s 11th annual Car Show & Chilli Cook Off. Because let’s face it. What’s better than chilli paired with classic cars? Especially when the majority of the cars shown were Volkswagens, some made as early as the 1950s. Chilli contestants were busy putting the finishing touches on there entries in the town green next to Main St. and cars were lined down both sides of the main drag through downtown as well as near the train tracks that sit at the end of the street.People flocked to check out beetles and westfalias, pickup trucks, mustangs, corvettes and other classic vehicles. It was a slice Americana that is very hard to find in this modern age.
