Sunflowers in North Georgia

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Sunday was a very busy day. After finishing with the IronKids Triathlon in Alpharetta, I headed up to North Georgia to photograph a feature on apple picking. I love driving through the mountains especially on an overcast day that kept the heat and humidity away. So with the windows down and the music up I wound my way through the twisting back roads on the way to Ellijay and Blue Ridge. It was on this journey that I discovered this…..

A beautiful field of sunflowers that seemed to take up the valley. I had a very tight deadline so I filed it away to stop on the way back. Thankfully the photo gods were smiling as three apple orchards were shot and in the bag with time to spare on the return trip home. Sunflowers are my favorite flower and this put a little sunshine in an overcast day!

  1. We live near Dawsonville and my adult niece in Atlanta told us about these sunflowers recently. A google search led me to your photos. I really enjoyed seeing them. I see you were in Alpharetta last weekend, also. That is where I grew up. You certainly are talented and I enjoy your site.
