Atlanta Beltline Arboretum

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Wednesday morning started with a drive down to the Atlanta Beltline to catch around 70 volunteers from Georgia’s Own Credit Union as they planted 80 donated smooth sumac and long leaf pine trees along the East Side Trail. Trees Atlanta was on hand to help educate the volunteers about the correct way to properly plant the trees along the side of the hill between the beltline and Freedom Parkway which is the beginning of the planned arboretum for the mixed use trail leading through downtown. The volunteers worked quickly and the once barren hill side was soon dotted with sapling and young trees. It’s another great example of residents chipping in to beautify the once dark and desolate area that has become so popular in the city!
