For the past four years, King of Pops, an Atlanta based small popsicle business, has hosted an annual Field Day as their busy season comes to an end and winter arrives in the city. Free popsicles, this year totaling around 7,000 were handed out during the day accompanied by live music, food, games, and much more, all as a thank you to their loyal customers. Although the event itself is free to the over 1,000 people who came to the Masquerade on Saturday, money raised during the fun day always goes to help some organization and this year it was the Hope Hill Elementary School P.T.A. I covered this event last year and just like last year the weather has miraculously held at blue skies and warm temperatures even though it is into November. There seemed to be nothing but smiles as people enjoyed their popsicles, while listening to such bands as Tha Hugs perform on stage. Adrian Barzaga, better known around town as The Ice Cuban, thrilled onlookers as he transformed a block of ice into a unicorn with a popsicle as a horn on the suggestion of someone in the crowd. Definitely an event to add to the calendar for next year!
