So I hit the road…again. This time traveling up Highway 395 through some of the Sierra Nevada mountains. I had a bunch of miles to churn out so I didn’t necessarily get a bunch of images on Wednesday afternoon and evening but I did manage to snap a few. I wanted to at least get over to the coast. After riding up 395 to Redding I found one of the best roads I have ever traveled. State Route 299 from Redding to Eureka is amazing. Curvy with hairpins and 180s the road climbs the mountains. The state is actually starting a facelift which is taking away the character so if you get a chance in the next few months to take the route do it before it’s too late.

This of course doesn’t take away from the rest of my time on this two lane blacktop. Leveling out, the road then follows the Trinity River for what seems like forever. The curves are a little less extreme but the views of the river from the road and the sunset made for a great ride into Eureka. The hills turned pink and orange as I made my way.
