Elk at Davis Road

Friday, July 24, 2015

My plan after leaving Humboldt Redwoods State Park was to head further north up the coastline to the Trees of Mystery. Although I had spent a day and a half being awe inspired by these towering giants I hadn’t quite had my fill. Along the way I happened to notice a small brown state park sign around Davis Road. It was an elk viewing area and there were a lot of cars pulled over and people out with binoculars so that could only mean one thing. There were elk around. I spent a good hour sitting on top of my car just watching these majestic creatures forage in the meadow. It was peaceful.
