Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail Expansion in Reynoldstown

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Anyone who has walked along the Atlanta Beltline knows that it is absolutely awesome. The multi use trail has bikers and walkers, joggers and skaters, families, couples, dogs and more using it each and every day. The other cool part about the beltline is that it is not even close to being completed. There are plenty of sections that are still waiting for a makeover. In the meantime that doesn’t mean that those sections aren’t being used. Artwork lines different portions of the trail, both graffiti and otherwise, as it winds its way throughout the city.

On Thursday I hiked a good portion of the expansion of the Eastside Trail through Reynoldstown. This proposed section will cut across Dekalb Ave. somewhere near Krog St. Tunnel, move up Wylie St., and then this is where it gets awesome. The trail then cuts across to Memorial Dr. through a foot path that follows the railroad tracks. The path comes out at Harper Station and will then cross over I-20, through Glenwood Park and continue on from there.

The beltline will somehow cross Dekalb Ave. but how is still a question. Krog St. Tunnel is one possibility.
