I am apparently on a pizza theme. Another Atlanta favorite, Atwood’s Pizza & Cafe in Midtown, is on the street level inside The Biltmore Hotel.
Walk into the door and you are greeted with industrial lighting, open brick walls, family style tables and stools. There is a line at the counter, probably a few people in suits, some Georgia Tech students and a menagerie of others. Atwood’s opens early and functions as a cafe until 11 a.m. serving biscuits and coffee. At the magic hour however it’s all about the pies. A large oven takes over the front half of the kitchen as dough is tossed and topped and made ready to be baked inside. The stools fill up as people get to know their neighbors.
