Valley of Fire and Lake Mead

The last day of our trip we headed from Mesquite, Nevada down to the Valley of Fire. we came across Lone Rock before heading up to Mouse’s Tank, Silican Dome and the White Domes. A fun fact for all of you Trek fans Silican Dome is the scene from Star Trek Generations where William Shatner’s James T. Kirk character died.Mouse’s Tank has petroglyphs along the trail.and White Domes are beautifully colored with yellow, pink and purple stones. From Valley of Fire we traveled into Lake Mead with the intention of stopping off at Hoover Dam. We got as far as the security checkpoint to find out that there was a bus fire on the dam and the road would be closed for five hours. Considering that it was already sunset and we had to be in Las Vegas to fly out in the morning we opted against waiting. We did however catch a spectacular sunset over Lake Mead which was a nice cap off to a trip of a lifetime with pops.
