Hundreds of people came out to participate in this year’s Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Day for Kids. The four hour event pitted teams against each other in field day type events such as tug of war, dodgeball, battleship and relay races all for the benefit of children. Although fall is right around the corner, summer would not let go Saturday as temperatures and humidity made their presences felt. But the muggy weather didn’t stop the fun. Olympians Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Gail Devers made appearances and joined in the fun as well as R&B artist Ne-Yo and All My Children star Heather Roop. The competition was fierce between the teams as balls flew, ships were sunk and races were run. Day for Kids is a national initiative to raise awareness for critical issues facing young men and women.
