When I say children’s author what comes to mind? Maybe Shel Silverstein, C.L. Lewis and probably Dr. Seuss. Maybe not, maybe I’m just dating myself. Either way, a different view of the renowned author and artist could be seen at the Ann Jackson Gallery in Roswell through this past Sunday. The gallery is one of 16 that had the honor of hosting the traveling show which featured numerous hats designed by Seuss as well as different paintings, sculptures and a unique collection called unorthodox taxidermy. It was really cool to see some old favorites from my childhood including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and The Lorax but I was enthralled with the taxidermy. Apparently Seuss did a whole body of work that combined animal parts, like horns and beaks, with the characters he designed for his books. You’ll get the picture once you look at some of the photos below…
