Shorty Howell Park

Sunday, February 23, 2014

I was out and about on Sunday and headed to Shorty Howell Park in Duluth. The beautiful blue sky and the sun shining brightly brought out a bunch of people to the park which holds some fond memories for me. As a child my parents would take my sisters and I to the very same park to feed the ducks and geese that liked to make the pond on the front side of the property their home. We would all sit be the edge of the water and break sliced bread into pieces to feed our hungry, feathered friends. Over the years the park has been expanded and improved with a new playground, walking trails, ball fields and the like and the water’s edge now has a railing and walking path instead of the grass and mud field that it used to be. But there were still plenty of families and their children sitting and standing by the edge of the pond feeding the geese.
