Noah’s Ark

Saturday, August 9, 2014

I wish I would have found out about Noah’s Ark before working on this feature for the Atlanta Journal. Not only is entry into the animal preserve free, they just have so much to offer those who love animals. Big cats, bears, monkeys, reptiles, farm animals, wolves, pretty much you name it outside of an elephant and a giraffe and they have it. The staff at the preserve work to rehabilitate Georgia wildlife as well as give a good quality of life to those animals who can’t be released back into the wild. Noah’s Ark is also famous for BLT, and not a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. BLT stands for bear, lion and tiger for the owner of the preserve happened upon just that after a drug raid by police in 2001. Baloo the bear, Leo the lion and Shere Hkhan the tiger were raised together since they were very very young. The bond between the animals remains so strong that the trio, now full grown, still share the same enclosure at the preserve. If you haven’t been yet I would highly suggest it for personally it is on the top of my list of newly discovered places in this state where I have grown up.
