On Thursday I got to check out the newly opened Center for Civil and Human Rights in downtown Atlanta. The museum features a timeline of the history of civil rights in our country with interactive displays, a walk through of events that shaped the movement and just a wealth of knowledge on both the high points and low points that led to equality in the United States as well as current struggles and triumphs from across the world. It is an amazing thing to walk through the building. The photography and the film footage are moving. The thought that went into even the lighting as it highlights the bright spots in the movement and brings out the dark days like when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. It is definitely on the must see for downtown if you haven’t had the chance to check it out yet.
