Cabbagetown has been a close knit neighborhood in Atlanta for years. In fact 12 years ago, residents got together one Saturday afternoon to do a friendly chili cook off where around 900 people showed up to chow down. Fast forward to last year and over 100 individuals competed in the cook off where 22,000 people came to check out what they had concocted in their kitchens. This past Saturday, the 12th annual Chomp & Stomp would not be denied even with freezing temperatures as the first day of the month felt like the first real day of winter. Thousands of people braved the cold to taste local residents and restaurant’s chili recipes, listen to live music on three different stages, compete in silly cabbage games, dance, eat, drink and check out what some of the local artists around town had to offer. Chomp & Stomp has come quite a long way for sure and is a definite must add to the calendar for next year if you haven’t been before!
