January 14, 2015 Atlanta – Ann Drake (left) plays a game of scrabble with her daughter Crystal at her home in Atlanta on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. 80 year old Ann fell recently on the steps of her front porch sending her to Grady Hospital with a dislocated shoulder and a gash in her head. Each year thousands of seniors end up in the emergency room after falling in their homes. For older Georgians a loose rug, a misplaced step can be particularly dangerous and sometimes deadly. Falls are among the leading causes of emergency room visits for people age 65 and older and officials expect it to get worse as the region’s population ages. JONATHAN PHILLIPS / SPECIAL
