SkyView Atlanta from The Tabernacle

A few years ago, SkyView Atlanta, the large ferris wheel across from Centennial Olympic Park, made its debut. Tourists and residents alike can take a ride on the wheel and get great skyline views of the city.

While shooting The Decemberists show at The Tabernacle, I took a step outside as Alvvays, the opening band from Toronto, finished their set. I have made it a habit to look up when I’m in downtown. You never know what cool things you’ll see. As the sun set and the torrential down pour turned to a light drizzle I did just that. The ferris wheel turned on its lights at about that time. So I figured I would snap a couple of frames.

I’ve seen photographs of SkyView Atlanta from a bunch of different angles and have snapped some of those same photos myself. Friday I found a new angle…
