Sunset in Klamath Falls

Saturday, July 25, 2015

After spending most of the afternoon at the Oregon Caves National Monument I headed north on my way to Crater Lake. I couldn’t camp in the national park Saturday evening but I wanted to be close to be able to get there early and spend a full day. So I made it all the way to Klamath Falls. I pulled into the campground in the late afternoon and spent a little time setting up my site.

I was right on Recreation Creek that feeds into Upper Klamath Lake. It was beautiful as the sun started to turn the sky light blue and pink. However being so close to the water also meant mosquitos. In the failing sunlight I started to watch the tops of trees and the cyclones of the tiny insects undulating in unison. I didn’t stay awake long so as not to be eaten alive like in some B-rated horror movie. Besides like I said I had a full day on Sunday at Crater Lake!
