So this is a long one folks and it’s something near and dear to my heart. DragonCon was held on Labor Day Weekend as per usual and as per usual tens of thousands of people invaded the downtown corridor for the convention for fans put on by fans.
Each year the convention gets a little bigger and the costumes get a little more elaborate. Whether you’re a fan of anime, sci-fi, gaming, fantasy, literature, puppetry arts, comics, music or literature, you will see something you recognize from fan and popular culture. This year, the parade featured some greats including Nichelle Nichols, i.e. Lt. Uhura from the Star Trek television and movie series, and Caroll Spinney, who voices and plays Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch from the Sesame Street series.
There were storm troopers and more from Star Wars, the Borderlands video game series was well represented, Star Trek, War Boys and Immortan Joe from the new Mad Max Fury Road movie came out, superheroes and villains of all sorts and so much more made their way down Peachtree St. and the rest of the parade route which was elongated by almost a mile this year.
