Photographing a funeral is always hard. There is a lot of emotion that surrounds everything about them. The family, the friends, the balance between wanting to get a good photograph that captures all of the emotion and not wanting to be too intrusive into such a personal tragedy. I drove to Kennesaw on Saturday morning to do just that. Omar Forde was a sergeant first class in the United States Army. He was killed in Afghanistan shortly before Christmas doing his duty for his country. He left behind a wife, two sons and a large extended family. The funeral was held at NorthStar Church which included all of the pomp and circumstance that comes with being in the military. An honor guard escorted Forde’s casket into and out of the service as well as a procession that included police, members of the Patriot Guard Riders, family and friends that made their way from Kennesaw to the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
