7-AAAAA Regional Track Championships

The past two days I have been photographing the 7-AAAAA regional track championships for the Gwinnett Daily Post at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee. Student athletes from Collins Hill, Norcross, Mill Creek, Duluth, Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett high schools have been competing in both track and field events including the discus, pole vault, long jump, hurdles, dashes and runs. These are some of my favorite images from the meet.

Collins Hill's Monique Bennett takes off from the starting blocks on Tuesday May 3, 2011.

Mill Creek's Chinenyenwa Okoye releases the discus on Monday May 2, 2011.

Duluth's Maya Thomas leads the pack to the finish line during the 100 meter dash on Tuesday May 3, 2011.

Collins Hill's Monique Bennett, left, just beats Peachtree Ridge's Sonikqua Walters to the finish line as Walters loses her footing and falls during the 400 meter dash on Tuesday May 3, 2011.

Peachtree Ridge's Sonikqua Walters lays on the track after falling just after the finish line on Tuesday May 3, 2011.

North Gwinnett's Taylor Pullen clears the bar during the pole vault on Monday May 2, 2011.

Peachtree Ridge's Autumn Burnette leaps over a hurdle during the 300 meter hurdles on Tuesday May 3, 2011.

North Gwinnett's Chelsea Spencer flies through the air during the long jump finals on Monday May 2, 2011.

Duluth's Joi Jones lands in the sand during the long jump on Monday May 2, 2011.

Jalen Johnson, left, and his brother Jaden play in the rain at Collins Hill High School during a delay in the Region 7-AAAAA championships on Tuesday May 3, 2011.

Collins Hill's Megan Kellar clears the bar during the finals for the pole vault on Monday May 2, 2011.

Peachtree Ridge's Autumn Burnette clears the last hurdle followed closely by Norcross' Kamilah Bakari and teammate Kendra Purifoye in the 100 meter hurdles on Tuesday May 3, 2011.
