The Tempest

I photographed the Georgia Shakespeare production of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at the Conant Performing Arts Center on the campus of Oglethorpe University for the Brookhaven Patch newspaper on Saturday, July 23, 2011. The play is part of the 2011 Summer Festival celebrating the 25th anniversary of the company. “The Tempest”, directed by Sharon Ott, is the story of Prospera, the once loved Duchess of Milan and now an all-powerful sorceress, who was exiled by her own brother to a remote island and left to die. With the power of magic, Prospera conjures a tempest to wash ashore a ship of her enemies and manipulates the survivors of the wreckage to weave a story of revenge, retribution, and reconciliation. This beloved romance was William Shakespeare’s last play. These are my favorite images of the performance.
