Cloudland Canyon is by far the most gorgeous state park that I have been to in Georgia. I took Friday to go hiking a few of the trails with my father and had to bring my camera. Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, the park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek. Two waterfalls cascade over layers of sandstone and shale into pools below, with their flow depending on recent rains. There are six main trails within the park; Bear Creek Backcountry Trail, a 2 mile Backcountry Trail, the Overlook Trail, West Rim Loop Trail, Sitton Gulch Trail and the Waterfalls Trail. We hiked down the Waterfalls Trail and connected a short way onto Sitton Gulch Trail. There is a combination gravel/dirt/mud path that leads down multiple staircases leading you from the rim and down into the base of the canyon. It was awesome!
