Sunday was the Yom HaShoah commemoration at the Besser Holocaust Memorial Gardens at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta in Dunwoody. The Holocaust Rememberance Day ceremony included rabbis and speakers from all over Georgia. Around 300 people attended the event which culminated with the lighting of six torches by Holocaust survivors and their families. Visitors then toured the gardens and the memorial to Abe Besser’s mother who saved members of her family by sacrificing herself in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.
