The holiday season is officially over as of today. January 6 marks the 12th day of Christmas which, according to ancient calendars, ends with the Feast of Epiphany also called “The Adoration of the Magi” or “Dia de los Reyes”. To celebrate, the Mexican Consulate and the Instituto de Mexico along with the Atlanta History Center put on a festival that brought traditional dancing, music, food and other performances to the hundreds of people that came out on Sunday to participate in the event. Fresh made tamales, breads and drinks were served. Manolo Alayeto serenaded the crowd, Traditional dances were performed from different regions of Mexico. Even the story of the the three wise men was told through a performance from children from Christ the King Church. It was quite a celebration and one I am glad I got the chance to attend!
