Wednesday morning I had the opportunity to meet Chef Kevin Gillespie. You may recognize his name from Top Chef or if you have eaten at Gunshow in Atlanta, yes that’s him too. The red headed, tattoo covered chef was thrust into the spotlight at a time when the restaurant he co-owned was in desperate need of a little attention. Enter the Top Chef television series. Although it was just what the doctor ordered it threw Gillespie for a loop. For you see, Kevin is seemingly mild mannered and slightly shy. He learned the art of cooking by helping his grandmother many years ago in her kitchen. Success hasn’t gone to his head either. Down to earth, Kevin now has his sights set on Decatur and plans to open Revival later this year. The new restaurant will take over what used to be the Harbour House Pub and its main theme will be a family style Sunday dinner. I, being a self proclaimed foodie, can’t wait for I have spent many Sundays growing up sitting around my family’s table eating and talking with everyone.
