Kevin Gillespie has been making mouths water around Atlanta for a long time. The former Top Chef contestant with southern roots has been in the food industry for a long time. He was a co-owner in the now closed Woodfire Grill in Atlanta. In 2013 Gillespie opened Gunshow in the Glenwood Park neighborhood to much fanfare and praise. Now he has set his sights on Decatur with the opening of Revival. Revival is set in a nicely sized house which is the perfect setting for his take on a Sunday family dinner. The food is excellent but you won’t be losing weight anytime soon. The fried chicken is painstakingly marinated in a sweat tea brine. The cornbread is served fresh and delicious. The cocktails are perfect for a southern evening on the porch. Definitely a recommended spot for those that love everything southern when it comes to cooking!

Maria Riley sits in an adirondack chair outside of Revival in Decatur as she waits on the rest of her party to arrive.

Spiced Mississippi catfish in a low country tomato gravy, freshly made corn bread and a lemon icebox pie make for a great at Revival in Decatur.
