Avalon has become a shopping destination for Alpharetta in the year or so it has been open. Like Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Avalon hosts a bevy of events throughout the year but none is more well attended than the lighting of the Christmas tree.
I headed over to Avalon on Sunday evening and the place was packed with people shopping, eating, drinking, listening to live performances, ice skating and waiting for Santa and the lighting of the tree that sits in the middle of the property.
Santa showed at the tail end of the parade that made its way through the crowd featuring the Atlanta Falcons Drumline. Soon after a hush fell over the thousands of people that filled the streets as fireworks exploded in the night sky and the tree lit up in a spectacular way!
