Ford Fry’sĀ BeetleCat is open in Inman Quarter, and the restaurant is a bit of a period piece for the mega-restaurateur. Fry takes diners back to the early 1970s with lower-level seating that’s inspired by a cozy New England surfer den from the decade. Upstairs, the decor is modern coastal, think yacht, with dark woods, a blue-white color scheme, and plenty of large windows looking out to North Highland Avenue and Elizabeth Street. The seafood is fresh and can be readily seen at the bar that spans almost the length of the main dining area upstairs. Chefs can be seen shucking oysters, clams and mussels or boiling a lobster as they prepare orders from the succulent seafood displayed on ice.

Whereas the upstairs at BeetleCat is yacht themed, downstairs has a markedly surfer den feel. The lounge area downstairs.

BeetleCat’s upstairs patio’s main feature is a long board table for large parties or meeting new people.
