Atlanta’s West End Neighborhood

Friday, March 4, 2016

I headed down to Atlanta’s West End neighborhood on Friday. I haven’t spent a lot of time here but it does have some unique charm. Neighborhoods begin right off of the main thoroughfare of Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. On Peeples Street, for example, giant historic homes can be found on the wide, tree lined road. Parks, schools and churches are prevalent and if you have ever heard of the Wren’s Nest, it’s right in the heart of the neighborhood as well.

The Wren’s Nest is the home of Joel Chandler Harris, Uncle Remus, and Brer Rabbit. Multiple times a week, story tellers come to the historic home and do just that, tell stories. The Atlanta Beltline is currently building the Westside Trail, which will connect three parks within the West End. The university district is also a stone’s throw away. There is a lot going on in the West End and spring is in the air.
