Ruffus Rescue is a small no kill shelter for dogs run by Harriett Patterson. Patterson spent over a decade volunteering at other shelters around Atlanta before opening up her own in the city. Currently, Ruffus Rescue has close to 40 canines ready for adoption and looking for good homes. Patterson started the shelter six years ago and has adopted out 4,000 dogs in that time. On Monday, The Finlays, a family from Peachtree Corners came to the rescue for a meet and greet and to make a final decision on whether to adopt Humphrey, a Bernese Mountain-Austrailian Shepherd mix. I photographed the shelter for a Three of a Kind photo feature for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
