Salud Cooking School

I rounded out my cooking photo feature with a trip to the Salud Cooking School at Harry’s Farmers Market in Roswell. The class of ten was under the tutelage of Chef Samantha Enzmann who also owns and runs The Mercantile in downtown Atlanta. The class ran smoothly and efficiently as students cut, chopped, roasted, sliced and cooked their way to a delicious dinner. Although some of the students had participated in other classes before Thursday, the thing I really enjoyed watching was the camaraderie that formed between complete strangers who all wanted to learn or improve their skills in the kitchen because, well, I love spending time in the kitchen coming up with new recipes and trying food that I’ve prepared with my own two hands. I think this comes from spending time with my mother and grandmother as they spent hours preparing meals for the family. I would sit there and watch them and would be ecstatic when they would ask me to help even if it was just measuring out water, dropping cookie dough on a pan or licking the bowl when it was all through.
